ILAC Quality and Policy Officer

  • International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Secretariat requires a motivated and hands on Quality and Policy  Officer; 
  • Fixed term Full-time position to 28 February  2018;
  • Sydney based position at Rhodes.

National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia (NATA) is a not for profit member owned organisation that operates Australia’s laboratory accreditation system. NATA also provides full Secretariat services to the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to take on the role of Quality and Policy Officer for a fixed term to 28 February 2018. This position reports to the ILAC Secretary, as the manager of the ILAC Secretariat.

The key attributes for this position are capability and experience in documenting, implementing and maintaining operational and quality management procedures and undertaking policy research, co-ordination of policy implementation and monitoring of policy development issues. The successful candidate will be required to take an active role in the maintenance and implementation of ILAC’s quality management system and in the trademark registration and licensing system, in addition to undertaking general administrative duties as required. As part of this job also involves co-ordination and liaison with external agencies from both scientific and regulatory backgrounds, the ability to communicate effectively and comprehend and manage a broad range of issues in this regard is highly relevant.

Full training and support will be provided to the successful candidate.

Client Coordinator - Inspection - Brisbane or Perth

NATA (The National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia) is a not for profit organisation that operates Australia’s laboratory accreditation system with 3,000 accredited facilities and is seeking to appoint a Client Coordinator in our Brisbane office located in Annerley or our Perth office located in Bentley.  This position is a full-time permanent position offering variety and job satisfaction.

The appointee will be required to work with a team of professional people who plan and lead on-site assessments, utilising technical experts, against criteria based on ISO/IEC 17020. The appointee will primarily be working in the program of Inspection.  Inspection accredits bodies engaging inspectors to establish conformity in a broad range of industries. The appointee may also be expected to work in other fields after initial induction training has been completed.

Duties: The appointee will be primarily responsible for organising and leading assessment teams comprising appropriate technical experts to conduct on-site assessments. Duties also include the preparation of technical reports, follow-up of matters arising from assessments and provision of advice to technical assessors and the public on NATA’s policies and technical requirements.   Intrastate and interstate travel will be a necessary component of the role and in addition to this you will be required to work extensive hours during high assessment periods.

Qualifications and Criteria:  This role would be ideal for someone who has a tertiary qualification within the field of applied science/engineering/materials science or a related discipline. Other technical qualifications will be considered for the Inspection position.  In addition, you will possess 3-5 years practical experience in an engineering, industrial testing or industrial QA environment.

You will be computer literate, self motivated, well-organised, logical thinker, with highly developed interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills.   Although this role is part of a larger team, you must be able to work unsupervised and manage a number of simultaneous tasks.  You must also have a current driver’s licence.  Previous auditing experience is highly desirable, although training will be provided.

Salary and Conditions:  The salary on commencement is equivalent to a total remuneration package of $96,114 per annum. Client Coordinator – Mechanical Testing

The National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia (NATA) is a not for profit organisation that operates Australia’s laboratory accreditation system with 3000 accredited facilities and is seeking to appoint a Client Coordinator in our Brisbane office located in Annerley.  This position is a full-time permanent position offering variety and job satisfaction.

The appointee will be required to work with a team of professional people engaged in the assessment of the competence of laboratories undertaking a variety of testing predominantly in the area of Mechanical Testing.  The appointee may also be expected to work in other fields of testing such as Construction Materials Testing after initial induction training has been completed.

Duties:  The appointee will be primarily responsible for organising and leading assessment teams comprising appropriate technical experts to conduct on-site assessments against criteria based on ISO/IEC 17025.  Duties also include the preparation of technical reports, follow-up of matters arising from assessments and provision of advice to technical assessors and the public on NATA’s policies and technical requirements.  Intrastate and interstate travel will be a necessary component of the role.

Qualifications and Experience:  This role would be ideal for someone with tertiary qualifications in engineering, materials science or other technical discipline who has professional experience in a technical role within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.  Consideration will be given to experienced candidates holding non-degree qualifications.   You will be computer literate, self motivated, well-organised and a logical thinker, with highly developed interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills.  The ability to work unsupervised and manage a number of simultaneous tasks is essential.  You must also have a current driver’s licence. Previous auditing experience is highly desirable, although training will be provided.
