It is with sadness we advise that Metrology Society of Australasia (MSA) member, Robert Kay, passed away unexpectedly on the 6th of April. Robert was waiting for a medical procedure following his recovery from COVID but passed before this could happen.
Robert ran the Oceanographic Calibration Facility at CSIRO in Hobart where he was particularly focused on milli-Kelvin scale calibration of temperature sensors, conductivity of sea water and pressure measurements for marine research.
Robert was a regular attendee and presenter at MSA conferences – many members will recall his excellent knowledge in metrology combined with his great sense of humour, friendly nature and quick wit!
NATA send their condolences to Robert’s family.
