Before a demolition crew opens a ceiling, before a contractor disturbs soil, and before a building is returned to use, critical decisions need to be made. Are hazardous materials present? What risks exist? How should they be managed?
For Aytrium Consulting, answering these questions is more than a technical exercise. It is about providing reliable evidence that enables safe, informed, and confident decision-making.
Based in south-western Sydney, Aytrium combines hazardous materials assessment, occupational hygiene and environmental consulting to help clients understand conditions in buildings, workplaces and land. Drawing on more than 30 years of combined experience, the team delivers practical advice supported by rigorous testing, investigation, and reporting.
The importance of that work is often revealed in places that cannot be seen.
During a recent targeted investigation of a facility with extensive existing hazardous materials reporting, Aytrium identified previously undiscovered contamination risks. By examining proposed works, hidden spaces and potential contamination pathways, the team found friable asbestos-containing dust and debris, along with lead-impacted settled dust in internal areas. These findings significantly influenced how affected areas needed to be managed before demolition could proceed.
Outcomes such as these demonstrate why confidence in technical results matters. Testing results can determine how hazardous materials are removed, how work is sequenced, what controls are implemented, and, ultimately, how workers and the community are protected.
Recognising the significance of these decisions, Aytrium achieved NATA accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 in September 2026, strengthening confidence in the technical competence underpinning its accredited testing activities.
For clients, accreditation provides independent assurance that testing is conducted by a competent organisation operating in accordance with internationally recognised standards. It offers confidence that results are reliable, traceable, and produced through validated processes, giving project teams greater certainty when making important decisions.
This assurance is particularly valuable across Aytrium’s service areas, which include hazardous materials identification, occupational hygiene monitoring, contaminated land investigations, remediation validation, and waste classification. In each case, technical results have the potential to influence project outcomes, worker safety, environmental management, and regulatory compliance.
As Aytrium continues to grow, one principle remains constant: every sample, assessment and report may shape an important decision.
NATA accreditation reinforces that responsibility. It demonstrates Aytrium’s commitment to technical excellence and provides clients with confidence that the results informing critical decisions are supported by independently verified competence.
