FIFA is strengthening its global anti-doping efforts for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, bringing together national anti-doping organisations across Canada, Mexico and the United States to deliver one of the most comprehensive testing programmes in the tournament’s history.
Building on its successful collaboration with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), FIFA has formalised partnerships with Sport Integrity Canada and Mexico’s National Anti-Doping Committee. Together, these organisations will lead out-of-competition testing in the lead-up to the tournament and support in-competition testing across all host cities ensuring a coordinated, high-quality approach aligned with the World Anti-Doping Code and FIFA Anti-Doping Regulations.
This global collaboration reflects a shared commitment to protecting player health, upholding the integrity of sport, and ensuring a level playing field for all competitors.
At the core of this system is accreditation providing confidence in every result and NATA is the accreditation body with the highest number of accredited WADA labs, with a total of four labs.
NATA also plays a critical role in this global infrastructure. Through the accreditation of laboratories such as the Anti-Doping Lab Qatar (ADLQ) which conducted testing for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ NATA helps ensure anti-doping analysis is accurate, reliable and internationally trusted.
Accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 and recognised for Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) testing, ADLQ demonstrates the level of technical excellence required to support major global events. It’s this assurance delivered through independent, rigorous accreditation that underpins every test result and every decision made on the world stage.
From laboratories to global partnerships, accreditation connects the system enabling consistency, comparability and trust across borders.
Together, FIFA’s partnerships with national anti-doping organisations and the global network of NATA-accredited and internationally recognised laboratories form a powerful system one that safeguards fairness, protects athletes, and ensures performances are backed by integrity.
Because when the stakes are highest, confidence in the result matters most.
