At the NMI 2026 Measurement Awards, held during National Science Week, NMI CEO Deborah Anton paid tribute to Jennifer Evans, NATA’s former CEO, recognising her outstanding contribution to Australia’s measurement and accreditation community.
Deborah highlighted Jennifer’s leadership in strengthening Australia’s accreditation system, advancing the nation’s quality infrastructure and representing Australia on the international stage. Reflecting on the long-standing partnership between NMI and NATA, Jennifer described the two organisations as “two parts of the same assurance ecosystem”, emphasising the collaboration, technical expertise and shared commitment that underpin confidence in Australia’s measurement and accreditation systems.
The awards also celebrated other leaders driving excellence in measurement science. Professor Julio Soria received the prestigious Barry Inglis Medal for his sustained contribution to Australian metrology. Dr Ajit Dash was recognised with both the Measurement Achievement Encouragement Award and the People’s Choice Award for his pioneering work in quantum current measurement. Mr Glenn Ross received the Measurement Impact Award for his contributions to strengthening measurement standards and traceability for air quality and pollution monitoring across Australia.
Together, the award recipients showcase the expertise, innovation and dedication that continue to strengthen Australia’s scientific, measurement and accreditation capability.
