In a recent webinar hosted and presented by NATA’s Neil Shepherd, Sector Manager, Life Sciences and joined by industry experts Richard Wilkinson from Tetra Tech Coffey and Member of the NATA Accreditation Advisory Committee and Carl Strautins from Safe Environments, crucial insights on asbestos testing, accreditation, and laboratory protocols were shared. The session provided an in-depth overview of AS 5370 sampling and qualitative identification of asbestos in bulk materials and highlighted key differences from AS 4964 (2004). 

The discussion also covered the importance of NATA accreditation in maintaining rigorous testing standards and ensuring reliability in asbestos testing laboratories. Richard Wilkinson emphasised the role of accreditation in ensuring laboratories remain compliant with evolving regulations. Additionally, Carl Strautins shared valuable strategies for effective sampling control and risk assessment, providing attendees with actionable insights for managing asbestos risks in complex environments.
