Validation and verification of test methods can be very challenging and getting it right first time is essential to the validity of results generated. Microbiological methods are especially challenging and ISO TC 34 SC9 Food Microbiology has developed a series of Standards ISO 16140 to address the issue. Of particular interest to accredited facilities is ISO 16140-3 published in January 2021 which covers the verification of a standard method by a user laboratory.
