It is with much sadness we advise that Marcel Vanderslik, Lead Accreditation Specialist in the MAP Sector, passed away in early October, 2021
Marcel passed away while doing one of his favourite things – going on a weekend bicycle ride with his cycling group, when he had a medical episode and could not be revived. He had been with NATA for ten years following a long and highly respected career in commercial non-destructive and mechanical testing, and had just celebrated his retirement on the previous Friday.
Apart from being an outstanding Lead Assessor, his achievements included three years as Deputy Sector Manager, MAP, where he developed the Materials and Products section of the Masterlist, (used as the basis for current scopes of accreditation), but more recently stepped back to transition to retirement. He was also instrumental in the rapid accreditation of the first facility to be accredited for face mask testing at the start of the Covid pandemic. Marcel was respected as a quiet achiever with exceptional technical knowledge. NATA has sent condolences to his wife and family.
