GLOBAC, a new organisation that will bring together the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) to become a single global accreditation organisation, is a step closer following a vote by ILAC and IAF members.
“Today (Wednesday, October 9) the ILAC and IAF Chairs and Vice-Chairs officially started the registration process of the Global Accreditation Cooperation (GLOBAC) in New Zealand, with the IAF and ILAC members in attendance. This step comes after ILAC and IAF members approved the GLOBAC Constitution and General Rules through a positive vote,” a statement said.
NATA, a long-standing member of ILAC was part of the vote which took place at the IAF-ILAC Joint Annual Meetings being held in Berlin, Germany over the past week.
NATA has ILAC MRA (Mutual Recognition Arrangement) status which enhances the acceptance of products across national borders promoting international trade and the free-trade goal of “accredited once, accepted everywhere” can be realised.
More details on the new GLOBAC organisation will be released in coming months.
