AES Environmental, a manufacturer of air filtration, contamination control and dust collection products, has achieved 50 years of accreditation with NATA.
Its laboratory is accredited to perform product qualification testing of air filters and on-site testing services for critical devices and environments such as Cleanrooms, HEPA filters, Biological Safety Cabinets, and other contamination control equipment.
Developing new standards
AES Environmental’s achievement within the air filtration industry is not limited to its long-standing accreditation by NATA. The company has also made contributions over the decades to the development and application of local standards that can be NATA accredited.
Up until 1967, there were no Australian standard for air filters, so AES Environmental initially certified its products to British Standards. In 1968, AES Environmental rebuilt its laboratory to align with these standards and was then, in January 1975, was formally accredited by NATA.
To help develop local standards, AES Environmental started the “Air Filter Association of Australia” in 1968. Five years later in 1973, the first Australian air filter standard, AS1132:1, was published.
During the 1970s, AES Environmental recognised the need to establish on-site mechanical testing. The development of the AS1807:6 standard, along with 25 other individual on-site test methods, marked the beginning of an accredited on-site service division providing mechanical testing of critical equipment, such as Biological Safety Cabinets. This was the forerunner to AS1807:2021, one of the most applied standards in Australia and overseas laboratories.
A rich history
In recent years, AES Environmental has embarked on documenting its manufacturing past by digitising documents from its archives. This has meant the discovery of over 50,000 historical NATA test reports and worksheets dating back to 1979, which show how similar the document layout or design has remained over the many years.
NATA accreditation has been a core business value for AES Environmental over the last 50 years, and this has led to recognition, reliability, commitment, loyalty, and on-going support from its customers and partners. As the company works to retain its NATA accreditation, it will continue to be a key pillar for the company moving forward.
