The Australian Calibration Group (ACG), a Victoria‑based provider of specialist calibration services, has achieved ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to precision, quality, and continuous improvement.
ACG’s NATA‑accredited scope focuses on pressure metrology, covering a wide range from ‑100 kPa to 100,000 kPa. Importantly, this accreditation extends beyond ACG’s laboratory, enabling the team to deliver accredited calibration services on‑site. This flexibility allows ACG to bring accuracy directly to the equipment, reducing downtime and increasing convenience for customers.
The decision to pursue accreditation was a strategic one. ACG identified growing opportunities in highly regulated sectors, including the pharmaceutical industry, where the use of NATA‑accredited providers is often mandatory. Accreditation not only opened the door to these sectors but also provided a clear pathway for sustainable business growth.
However, the benefits went well beyond winning new work. For ACG, accreditation was equally about strengthening trust with existing customers. Even for clients who do not specifically require accredited services, ISO/IEC 17025 provides added assurance that calibration results are reliable, defensible, and delivered to the highest recognised standard.
Internally, the impact has been transformative. The accreditation process prompted ACG to refine its procedures, enhance quality control, and embed a deeper focus on consistency and detail across the organisation. Over time, these improvements flowed into every aspect of the business, driving greater efficiency, clarity, and confidence in day‑to‑day operations.
Reflecting on the journey, ACG encourages other organisations considering accreditation not to be discouraged by the initial workload. While the requirements and documentation can appear demanding at first, the process brings valuable structure, sharpens processes, and ultimately opens doors that might otherwise remain closed.
NATA congratulates the Australian Calibration Group on this achievement and looks forward to supporting its continued contribution to Australia’s calibration and measurement capability.
