Barnson, a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy in regional NSW, has achieved a remarkable 30 years of accreditation for soils and concrete.
The company’s accreditation journey started soon after it opened its doors in 1992. One of the first tasks undertaken by the company’s founder and co-director was to establish a soils and concrete laboratory in Dubbo and get it NATA accredited.
NATA accreditation was a priority for Barnson, as it was a prerequisite for providing services to clients in the private, public, and government sectors. Without accreditation, the consultancy would be unable to undertake work on any projects in its industries of interest.
In preparation for accreditation, Barnson invested in three key areas of its business: systems, processes, and team. Gaining and maintaining NATA accreditation recognises Barnson’s technical competence while satisfying the accreditation criteria, which includes the highest laboratory technical standard – ISO/IEC 17025.
Accreditation also provides Barnson with consumer trust and loyalty. Since its internal processes have been independently reviewed by peers to be technically sound, its clients can be confident that they are engaging with a professional and reliable soil and concrete technical service.
In addition to its initial NATA-accredited laboratory in Dubbo, Barnson’s facilities in Orange and Bathurst have also been accredited. Then, when the company acquired Envirowest Consulting in 2024, it was able to add more NATA-accredited capability for soils and asbestos under the Barnson banner.
From its humble beginnings, Barnson has developed into a full-service, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy. Accreditation has played a critical role in this journey, enabling the company to provide a reputable and recognised service in regional NSW.
We congratulate Barnson on a remarkable 30-years of accredited testing and partnership with NATA.
