Envirolab Services (Envirolab), a provider of environmental testing services in air, water, soil, asbestos, and emerging contaminants, recently celebrated its 20-year anniversary of continuous NATA accreditation.
Envirolab was first established in 2005 after the purchase of JET Laboratories (JET) in Willoughby, Sydney. JET was accredited with NATA for many years before Envirolab took over and continued the accreditation, so Envirolab’s heritage with NATA goes back considerably further than 20 years!
The company has since expanded its laboratory footprint with the acquisition of MPL Laboratories in Perth and RCA Lab in Newcastle, both of which also had many years of NATA accreditation.
The importance of traceability
Envirolab is committed to having each new laboratory it establishes accredited with NATA.
Envirolab believes NATA accreditation shows that the laboratory is technically competent to perform every test which is covered by its accreditation. This demonstrates to their customers and partners that the laboratory can be trusted to produce reliable test results which are traceable.
NATA assesses Envirolab facilities to the ISO/IEC 17025 Standard that covers all aspects of a laboratory’s operations. By complying with this Standard, Envirolab can demonstrate that its laboratories are not only competent but also have established processes covering such things as staff training, quality control, corrective action and other important aspects of good practice.
NATA’s Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) via ILAC is also an advantage for Envirolab by enabling them to source work from overseas simply by being NATA accredited.
Best practice sharing
Envirolab’s continuous involvement with NATA over the years has meant that many of its staff have reciprocated by volunteering their skills and expertise as NATA Technical Assessors.
It currently has ten NATA Technical Assessors – one of the highest for a private laboratory in Australia. Its Group R&D Manager was Chair of one of NATA’s Accreditation Advisory Committees for several years and its Group Commercial Manager is a current member of NATA’s Member Advisory Forum (MAF).
We wish Envirolab another 20-years of successful operation and NATA accreditation.
