NATA is pleased to welcome Restech Laboratories, a Brisbane-based analytical laboratory as one of NATA’s newest members. Established in 2023, Restech specialises in the quantitative analysis of illicit drug contamination on surface swabs from residential and commercial properties, testing for substances including Methylamphetamine, MDMA, Fentanyl, and Cocaine. Their work helps homeowners, tenants, businesses, and communities make informed decisions and maintain safer environments.
Restech sought NATA accreditation from the outset. “Living in drug-contaminated environments is a public health risk in Australia,” says Alp Bekensir, Founder and Laboratory Director. “Our business was structured to provide Australians with reliable, accurate, NATA-accredited results, ensuring living environments are drug-free.”
Once their Quality Management System and Method Validation studies were complete, they moved immediately to pursue accreditation.
In an industry without mandatory government standards for laboratory analysis, NATA accreditation provided them independent assurance of competence and reliability.
“Accreditation guarantees a uniform, high-quality analytical service,” Bekensir explains. “It empowers clients to make confident, well-informed decisions and raises the benchmark for the broader industry, promoting trust and confidence in laboratory testing services that directly impact health and safety.”
Restech’s accreditation is the first of its kind – a fully digitally operated, environmentally sustainable laboratory. This achievement reflects both the dedication of the Restech team and their commitment to pushing boundaries in scientific innovation and sustainability.
Bekensir also shares his advice for organisations considering accreditation. “Schedule your advisory visit with NATA early. It provides direct, actionable feedback on your current processes and helps kickstart the accreditation journey. Accreditation isn’t just a stamp – it’s a strategic move that can transform an organisation’s reputation, professional relationships, and business growth.”
Their accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025, Accreditation No: 21572 provides peace of mind to clients and stakeholders, ensuring that test results are accurate, reliable, and produced under internationally recognised standards.
We welcome Restech to the NATA community and look forward to seeing how they continue to innovate in analytical testing while upholding the highest standards of integrity and reliability.
