Igniting Trust: Cannon Combustion Accredited to ISO/IEC 17025
NATA team

Cannon Combustion, a specialist tester of solid fuel‑burning appliances, has achieved NATA accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 marking a significant milestone for Australia’s wood heater testing capacity.

The accreditation confirms Cannon Combustion’s competence to test appliances, including wood heaters, for wood smoke emissions and heating efficiency against Australian Standards. These tests determine whether a heater model meets regulatory limits and can be legally sold in Australia.

In addition to performance testing, Cannon Combustion assesses safety installation clearances, establishing the minimum safe distance between appliances and combustible walls or surfaces an essential safeguard for households and installers.

Accreditation was critical for Cannon Combustion, both to support compliance testing of wood heaters and to meet requirements set out in the relevant Australian Standards.

Until now, only one accredited laboratory in Australia was approved to test wood heaters. Cannon Combustion’s accreditation delivers a second accredited facility, expanding national testing capacity and helping manufacturers and importers meet growing demand more efficiently.

NATA congratulates Cannon Combustion on this achievement and looks forward to its continued contribution to the testing and assurance of solid fuel‑burning appliances.
