Mount Isa Mines’ (MIM) Queensland Analytical Laboratory is celebrating 30 years of continuous NATA accreditation, reflecting a long-standing commitment to technical excellence, safety and reliable performance.
The accreditation covers a broad range of critical testing activities, including ambient air PM10 particulate monitoring, metals and alloy analysis, ores and minerals testing, and blood-lead analysis. The laboratory applies a suite of robust analytical techniques, such as high‑volume gravimetric sampling, atomic absorption spectroscopy, fire assay, gravimetric methods, and titration.
MIM Technical Services Manager, Thia Sher, said the milestone recognises the dedication and professionalism of the laboratory team over three decades.
“For the past 30 years, Mount Isa Mines has maintained a continuous relationship with NATA and we look forward to continuing this valuable partnership into the future,” Sher said. “This achievement belongs to everyone who has contributed over the years, consistently upholding the highest industry standards.”
Mount Isa Mines operates two major mining and processing streams, copper and zinc‑lead‑silver supplying essential resources used widely across Australian society. The site is globally recognised, hosting the world’s largest zinc resource base and the most extensive underground mine network of its kind.
