The Standards Council of Canada (SCC), recently met with NATA to share accreditation practices, areas of new program growth and development, trade considerations between the countries and other synergies that enhance the relationship between the organisations.

Each organisation provided overviews on key business areas including:
- Regulatory and industry environments
- Business intelligence gathering
- Marketing strategies
- Funding and resources
- Growth Strategy
Also, on the day one agenda – relationships with other global accreditation bodies, technology and tools of trade, and new and developing accreditation areas including cyber security and artificial intelligence.
On day two, respective accreditation operations were compared and contrasted and, as part of this process, a review of assessment personnel and how best to recruit and capacity build.
With the changing and evolving nature of Standards, process transition and management were also discussed.
Importantly, assessment techniques and approaches were considered including remote and risk-based assessments, as well as scope extensions and accreditation criteria.
Overall, a highly productive meeting that will ultimately bring benefits to our members and stakeholders.
