A history
The QPS Calibration Laboratory was first accredited on 17 March 2004 in Electrical and Chemical Testing – specifically for the calibration of speed cameras and breath analysers. Over the years, the laboratory has maintained its standards and capabilities, contributing significantly to the accuracy and reliability of these critical law enforcement tools.
In 2014, a restructuring decision by the Queensland Government led to the separation of support services from police activities, transferring the Calibration Laboratory to the Public Safety Business Agency (PSBA). However, in 2016, this decision was reversed, and the laboratory was reintegrated into the QPS. Despite these administrative changes, the laboratory’s staff and capabilities remained consistent.
NATA’s Client Engagement Manager, Darina Ross, was present at the celebration to officially present the certificate, highlighting the laboratory’s enduring commitment to quality and safety.
“This milestone is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the QPS Calibration Laboratory staff. NATA extends its congratulations to the Queensland Police Service Calibration Laboratory on this achievement. We look forward to continuing our support and collaboration in the years to come.”
