Paving the way in quality for 30 years
NATA team

For over 60 years, Roadways has been responsible for road surfacing, pavement marking, road safety barriers, and civil construction across Tasmania. This year, it celebrates 30 years of NATA accreditation for these critical road and infrastructure services.

Towards a safer Tasmania

In the 1990s, Roadways saw an opportunity to gain accreditation for its existing facility to meet Government department’s for accredited test results.

This decision opened the door to further Government and Commonwealth-funded projects. Despite the initial investment that would be required to gain accreditation, Roadways felt it would be a beneficial long-term strategy to satisfy client accreditation needs.

In addition to helping Roadways to improve the reliability of its products that would consistently meet client expectations, gaining accreditation was seen as a means to further unlock efficiencies in its processes.

A key differentiator

Roadways was successfully accredited by NATA in 1995. Since then, it has maintained its accreditation.

During that time, accreditation has bolstered Roadways’ commitment to quality and provided a clear point of differentiation in the market. The company is now known as Tasmania’s largest asphalt producer, and it attributes accreditation to playing a key role in achieving this milestone.

NATA accreditation demonstrates excellence in laboratory testing and hence Roadways has been able to promote itself as a trusted business. Clients, particularly Government departments, trust Roadways’ testing without requiring additional independent verification, streamlining processes and fostering stronger relationships.

The road ahead

Beyond maintaining its hard-earned, high standards, Roadways is actively planning to grow and expand its services to the broader industry. This will include identifying, developing, and testing sustainable asphalt mixes and other testing services that cater to Tasmania’s diverse environmental conditions and varied client requirements.

Roadways expects accreditation to continue to play a valuable and important role in its quality journey, so it is committed to its ongoing maintenance.

Congratulations!
