Review of Victorian Safe Drinking Water Regulations

The Safe Drinking Water Regulations 2005 support the Safe Drinking Water Act 2003. The current guidelines will sunset in July 2015. The first stage of the sun-setting process involves the collection and evaluation of evidence about how the regulations are working and what changes could be made to improve them. The information gathered will be used to develop a revised set of regulations and a Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS).

To assist this information gathering phase the Department of Health has prepared a discussion paper seeking input on the future regulation of drinking water. The questions posed in the discussion paper provide a basis for feedback. Written submissions will contribute to the next stage of the process. The Department of Health invites you to participate in this review by attending a facilitated workshop and/or submitting a written response. The consultation period for this information gathering phase of the sun-setting process will close on Friday 27, June 2014.

Interested stakeholders can download the discussion paper fromĀ  http://health.vic.gov.au/water/drinkingwater/legislation.htm along with other information about the review process.
