NATA has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sydney Water that will help protect the authority’s water supply and sewerage systems from being damaged when new services and equipment are connected.
The MoU makes NATA the accrediting agency for all laboratories and inspection bodies that want to become Field Testing Services for Sydney Water.
The aim of the agreement is to ensure that bodies performing conformity assessment upon water and sewerage pipes return uniform and comparable data.
It supports the need to make sure that all new services and equipment that are connected to Sydney Water infrastructure do not cause damage to the existing supply or other services.
Testing and inspection needs to be undertaken to provide assurance of compliance prior to any connections being made.
NATA will assess bodies wishing to perform these testing and inspection services and accredit those competent to meet Sydney Water’s requirements.
NATA and Sydney Water will work closely together to ensure that the aims of the agreement are achieved.
